Indianapolis has something for every sports fan and athlete. Named the number one sports city in the nation, Indianapolis is home to seven professional sports teams and has been called the "Racing Capital of the World".
Motorsports
When it comes to racing, Indianapolis takes the checkered flag every time. The city hosts the two largest single-day sporting events in the world: the Indianapolis 500 and the Allstate 400 at the Brickyard. In 2008, the city hosted the first Red Bull Indianapolis GP for MotoGP, the world's premier motorcycle road racing series.
Indianapolis Motor Speedway is the only facility in the world to play host annually to these three major circuit-racing series: IndyCar Series, NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series, and MotoGP.

O'Reilly Raceway Park at Indianapolis (ORP), just a few short miles from the
Indianapolis Motor Speedway and home to the richest drag racing event in the world.
Indianapolis Colts
During the 2009 season, The NFL's
Indianapolis Colts, Super Bowl XLI Champions, became one of only three teams in the 90-year history of the NFL to go 14 - 0. The team now has 115 wins in the decade, the most by any team in any decade.

Indianapolis Indians
Recognized as the "Best Minor League Ballpark in America" by prominent publications such as
Baseball America and
Sports Illustrated,
Victory Field opened its gates July 11, 1996, and serves as home of the
Indianapolis Indians, Triple-A affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Indiana Ice
Formed in 2004, the
Indiana Ice is a Tier 1 ice hockey team, which plays in the Eastern Division of the United States Hockey League. The majority of its home games are at the
Pepsi Coliseum, located in the
State Fairgrounds, while others are played Conseco Fieldhouse, also home of the Indiana Pacers and Indiana Fever.
NCAA Final Four and SuperBowl 2012
Beginning in 2010, Indianapolis will host the
NCAA Final Four at
Lucas Oil Stadium once every five years until at least 2039 with other NCAA championship games and events in between. Indianapolis will also host the SuperBowl for the first time ever in 2012.
